It may be that you can find,through the name of the ship,which crew man died in that sinking. I don't know how you can do this,maybe someone else in the Forum does. historydavid Posted 18 August , 2006 Share Posted 18 August , 2006 The John Hardie was carrying a cargo of sugar from Java to the Clyde, was owned by John Hardie & Co of Glasgow and managed by Clutha Shipping Co Ltd.
