squirrel Posted 2 August , 2006 Share Posted 2 August , 2006 "dup sup", could it be duplicate supplied and the remainder the reference to an amendment on the medal rolls?
Chris_Baker Posted 2 August , 2006 Share Posted 2 August , 2006 Yes, the 15 Star was issued against roll RAMC/13B page 1049 and a duplicate against RAMC/19B page 1598. The War and Victory Medals were issued against RAMC/101B52 page 3775. He was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 15 July 1919.
minininja Posted 3 August , 2006 Author Share Posted 3 August , 2006 Thanks for that guys...why would ther be a duplicate roll?... sorry if this is elementary stuff but I no nothing of this! Col
Terry_Reeves Posted 3 August , 2006 Share Posted 3 August , 2006 It may well be Supplementary Roll. These were used to record the "strays" that somehow got missed off the main rolls. Terry Reeves
Coldstreamer Posted 3 August , 2006 Share Posted 3 August , 2006 Hello The coldstream gds Ive seen on supplement rolls have usually been so for interesting reasons - such as sentanced to death ! Ian
minininja Posted 4 August , 2006 Author Share Posted 4 August , 2006 Ian That does sound interesting....as far as i know he wasnt one of those!!! did the medal rolls get prepared once the war was over or did they get done regularly, and listed those killed / injured? Also is it likely that someone here may have a copy of these listed? Col
Coldstreamer Posted 4 August , 2006 Share Posted 4 August , 2006 Hello depends on the unit, I can only talk with any fact about the coldstream Gds The 14 star rolls are very good - show details such as POW, discharged, killed, transfer dates etc 15 star rolls show killed etc or discharged victory rolls are pretty boring - only some show ranks that are not on the MIC - such as acting ranks Some one may have a copy -you are best to do a seperate post Ian
