Remembered Today:

Army Service Corps MIC

the gunners dream

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could pinpoint what ASC unit this chap was attached to?

MICRichardJAOLDFIELD.jpg

If you can't read the image very well the medal roll number reads:

RASC/101/B3 at page 234B for his Victory and British Medal

And:

RASC/1 at page 89 for is 14/15 Star.

I'm wondering if his unit is the 101st divisonal company, but anyone either confirm or deny this?

Many thanks,

Steve

The Medal Roll reference will bear no relation to the units, so no not 101st Divisonal Company.

hello

stebie is correct in what he says , I will elaborate

The medal roll referenece will relate to the rolls that are kept at the NA, Kew. These rolls often show the unit within the regiment. The reference on the MIC directs you to the correct roll and page number

I am finding the MIC difficult to read but.....

it looks like his servcie number is S1; this would indicate he was a supply tradesman in the K1 army; this would tie into his entry into France in mid 115 and it should be able to recue the number of units from that.

But i could be wrong

Thanks for the replies.

He was a driver in the ASC, his service number being T1/3773. He drove horse transports.

So, if I look at the Medal Roll list, it should, in theory, give me his ASC unit? I've done this for Infantry units at Kew, but I've never had to look for ASC soldiers as of yet.
