Originally my grandfather was 1st AM wth 12 Squadron. However he suffered a hernia, recovered at Summerdown Convalescant Camp and then was posted to Roehampton for 6 months, from Dec 1915 to June 1916. When he went back to France he was moved to 47 Balloon Section as MP and solo motorcyclist.

Can anyone help with information about Summerdown camp, which I know was in Eastbourne, but thats about all, what MP was, and what he would have been doing on his motorcycle? Can find lots of information about observers and pilots but nothing about other members of the RFC. Could really do with some help here.

Thanks
