Hi

I'm planning next trip to the Front and want to spend some time in the Combles area.

Can anyone advise if the Chateau La Motte is still in existance, or the caves which Rose Coombs refers to in "Before endeavours fade"

Would anyone have a photo, as this would help when I am on the ground

Thanks

Hi Arthur J,

I walked the area of Combles three years ago (following Paul Reed's excellent book) and met the 'Chien mechant' of Faffemont Farm and its charming farmer. I think I'm correct in saying that the tunnels are now closed. I'm afraid I have not heard of the chateau you mention. Might I suggest a P.M. to Paul Reed? I'm sure he would courteously answer any reasonable question you put to him.

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks Ian,

Will send a PM to Paul, not sure that I want to meet the "chien merchant" though
