Hi,

I've just discovered that my Grandfather's three brothers also served.

All were born in this country, but two moved to Canada, before hostilities, and subsequently served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. I have found thier service numbers, via the link on this site, and I know that both survived the war.

Can some one please direct me in the right direction to find out more?(books for example).

Stewart, for a good electronic resource, download Nicholson's classic:

You may wish to order their service records from the Canadian National Archives. These will tell you if the men were transferred from their original enlisting battalions (very common); where they served; when they were wounded; when they were punished; when they were given leave, etc.

If they were enlisted men (ORs), you will likely never find their names mentioned anywhere else unless they did something very special, in which case they might be mentioned in their battalion's war diaries, now available on line as well.

What battalions did they enlist with? Some battalions have published unit histories, which may tell a lot more. The other friendly Canucks here on the forum will likely have other suggestions to help you. Have fun!!

Thank you for your reply, I have taken your advice and ordered thier service files, and I will hopefully be in possesion of the full facts.
