Guest John Kojcsich Posted 9 July , 2006 Share Posted 9 July , 2006 Medal_Card.docAttached are the medal cards that I located for my grandfather, John L. Loftus, who was an American surgeon who volunteered for service with the British Army in World War I. He served with the 1/2 West Riding Field Ambulance, 49th West Riding Division in 1918. I would appreciate some help in interpreting the notations on the cards. Thanks. John Kojcsich Roanoke, VA
welshdoc Posted 9 July , 2006 Share Posted 9 July , 2006 He was awarded a British war medal (silver one) and the Victory (bronze) have a look at the main site if you have never seen one. While he reached the rank of captain his medals were awarded to him a lieutenant (marked with an x). The numbers are the medal rolls. Good luck with the research gareth
