Greg Bloomfield Posted 4 July , 2006 Share Posted 4 July , 2006 I've managed to download the MICs for 43 of my village's 45 war dead but am absolutely stumped on the remaining two. I've tried every permutation possible (or so it seems) but have still drawn a blank with these lads. One served with the Canadians so I now assume that his records will be elsewhere. Could it be possible that the other has simply been missed from the listings? For the record they are; Private Walter Coman 235471 1st Lincolnshires L/Cpl Frank Martin Derisley 73211 28 Bn (Saskatchewan Regt) CEF The name 'Derisley' is pronounced "Dersley' and his brother and cousin who were also fatalities have their cards named in the latter style but Frank is not under this either. Any tips or advice would be gratefully received. Many Thanks Greg
Stebie9173 Posted 4 July , 2006 Share Posted 4 July , 2006 Here is Walter Coman's MIC. Medal card of Cowman, Walter Corps Regiment No Rank Suffolk Regiment 2825 Private Lincolnshire Regiment 235471 Private http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...;resultcount=12 I believe that a CEF man wouldn't normally have an MIC. Greg Bloomfield Posted 4 July , 2006 Author Share Posted 4 July , 2006 Steve When I said I'd tried every possible permutation, I obviously meant with the exception of that one! The idea that a 'W' could be slipped in never crossed my mind. Lesson learnt. And Tony. Thanks for the link, I didn't have it before and it will add to his picture. My thanks to you both.
