Digger Posted 7 August , 2006 Share Posted 7 August , 2006 Hi Kevin, Don't know if my Frederick Norton, 23194 received any awards, but will post on the off chance. He was with the 7th Battalion North Staffs. Regiment and died 13 01 1917 in Mesopotamia. Buried in the Amara Cemetery, Iraq. Thanks. Janet

Cliff. Hobson Posted 14 August , 2006 Share Posted 14 August , 2006 Kevin, I do have the citation for the D.C.M. awarded to Pte A. Sibbring 4th N. Staffs for an action on the 28th September 1918 at Canal Bank (Ypres) do you happen to have any further information on this man or the Battalion's actions at this time. Regards Cliff. Guest KevinEndon Posted 15 August , 2006 Share Posted 15 August , 2006 Nothing more I can add to the info you already have. I do not have the war diaries but I wish I had. I was hoping for a photo of him in the book I have but there isn't even that. For those who are interested here is his citation 45284 Private A. R Sibbling, 4th Battalions, North Staffs For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Verbrandenmolen, on the 28th September, 1918. During the attack he rushed forward to an enemy dugout in time to prevent 45 of the enemy coming out and firing on his company. He forced them to surrender by threatening them with bombs and undoubtedly saved many casualties.

Armoured Farmer Posted 27 September , 2006 Share Posted 27 September , 2006 Kevin, I'd be very greatful if you could check for a Harry HARRISON. I must stress this is a long shot, as I only know this man came from Leek and am not sure if he served in the North Staffs. WO 363 and 364 have turned nothing up. Thank you in anticipation. Armoured Farmer PS. Hoping my signature isn't too boring!
