Kate Wills Posted 29 June , 2006 Share Posted 29 June , 2006 It looks like a sports pavilion or entrance to a grandstand, Simon.
Sue Light Posted 29 June , 2006 Share Posted 29 June , 2006 It looks like a sports pavilion or entrance to a grandstand, Simon. There was a large-ish VAD hospital at Cheltenham Racecourse - but it would probably have changed by now anyway. Sue
libster Posted 29 June , 2006 Share Posted 29 June , 2006 There was a hospital on the racecourse at Squires Gate, Blackpool (now the site of the airport) throughout the war. The wounded were apparently housed in the grandstand. Unfortunately I have yet to see a photograph of the place. Libster
simon2 Posted 29 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 29 June , 2006 Sue, Kate, Libster Thanks for your replies. It's interesting Sue you saying Cheltenham as he was from Bristol which isn't too far away. I'll keep on digging. Thanks again, Simon.
