angelasmith66 Posted 27 June , 2006 Share Posted 27 June , 2006 Hi I am trying to trace the medal card of a relative who survived the war. I have very little information about him. I believe he was in teh Seaforth Highlanders but am not 100% sure about this. I do know that he lost his leg in action and I assume he would have been discharge after this (!) There are several people of the same name in this regiment. To help me narrow down the search, would a medal card normally indicate if a soldier was invalided out during the war? Thanks
Terry_Reeves Posted 27 June , 2006 Share Posted 27 June , 2006 Angela He would have received the Silver War Badge in this case, which would be annotated on the card, often as "SWB". This should narrow the candidates down a bit. Terry Reeves

Ken Lees Posted 27 June , 2006 Share Posted 27 June , 2006 Terry, Wouldn't he only have the SWB if he had applied for it? Ken
