medals1976 Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 Can anyone tell me anthing about the above German Ace and if there are any books available about him or any mentions. I have medals to two of his victims, Lieutenant J.Thompson R.F.C KIA 11/03/17 and Lieutenant C.C Llloyd R.A.F KIA 17/04/18. Would love to know more about him. Thanks. Dolphin Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 See http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/germany/strahle.html which might give you the information you need. In addition, there's a brief biography and photograph of Ltn Paul Strähle of Jasta 57 in Above the Lines by Norman Franks, Frank Bailey and Russell Guest; ISBN 0 948817 73 9. His career is also summarised in Fokker D.VII Aces of World War I Part 2 by Norman Franks and Greg VanWyngarden; ISBN 1 84176 729 8. I hope that this helps Gareth
medals1976 Posted 24 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 24 June , 2006 Thanks Gareth for your kind help, I will get the book you mentioned and certainly will look forward to reading it. I did not realise Strahle was a Fokker D.VII Ace, did he get to survive the war then? Kind Regards. Mike.
Dolphin Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 Mike Yes, Paul Strähle survived both World Wars and died in 1985. Cheers Gareth
