Codders Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 Hi My Grand Uncle served in the Navy, I have got his Record of Service but a bit of it is not the best copy in the world, can anyone help me on finding out a bit more about what he did during the War; William was born in Newcastle 6 Jan 1898 and was a Miner before joining the Navy, he actually returned to mining after the War and was killed in an explosion underground at Montague Colliery, Scotswood in 1935. Info gleaned from the Record of Service is: J66822 Enlisted 13 Feb 1917 Victory I - List 15a No 3374 - 13 Feb 1917 to 25 Jun 1917 Furious - List 52 No 201 - From 26 Jun 1917 Victory - To 4 Feb 1918 Victorious (Polsoy ??) - List 52 No 41 - From 5 Feb 1918 " " - List 52 No 41 - From ?? To 31 Dec 1918 Gunner - List 52 No 41 - From Jan 1919 To 12 Apr 1919 - Shore On ????? It has some writing under Character but it completely illegible The Postings section is not very good either but the above is what I have managed to cobble together William was a Ordinary Seaman for the first 4 entries and an AB for the last 2. joseph Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 John Not a problem as far as I am aware, its for personal research and your not making any money. If there was a problem the Moderators or Chris himself would let you know. Reghards Charles
