Hello

Cox's seniority as an Acting MATE, RN, was 1 August 1915.

With that in mind, I would doubt if he served as a rating in RN, but I would certainly be interested to know if I am incorrect.

All best

Name Cox, Charles Edwin Arthur William (I don't know the probibility of 2 men both having that combination of names, but I guess its the same as one person winning Euro Millions, the Lottery and Thunderball)

Official Number: 214203

Place of Birth: New Brompton, Kent; Birth Date 18 December 1885; entered service 1901

Catalogue reference ADM 188/375.

He entered when he was 15 or 16 and served close to 14 years before being appointed acting mate in 1915, even in the peacetime navy it was common for men of ability to be promoted to warrant rank in that time.

Hi Lads

Many thanks again for that, you really are knowledgeable group.

I will bite the bullet and down load what the National Archive have. A trip to the NA would be great, it probably would resolve many of my loose ends I have, but unfortunatly I'm not well enough to make the trip.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me.
