per ardua per mare per terram Posted 23 June , 2006 Share Posted 23 June , 2006 Has anyone read it yet? How does it compare to Howard Williamson's collector's guide?
Staffsyeoman Posted 26 June , 2006 Share Posted 26 June , 2006 It's not meant to compare/compete with Williamson, as its remit is far, far broader than just WW1 medals, and doesn't really dwell on them as medals per se (such as naming styles ribbons, etc). It is a listing of all the relevant NA material you might need to find to research all British medals, gallantry, campaign, service. To be honest it's not a book you can 'read', but it is an absolute goldmine for finding the obvious - and less obvious - source material. And it's written by the best man in the game. It will save hours of trawling. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
