sylvie sillince Posted 21 June , 2006 Share Posted 21 June , 2006 Please see MIC attached. I know the medals were returned but was he awarded the BWM - I find the card difficult to read? Thanks Sylvie
chris.wight Posted 21 June , 2006 Share Posted 21 June , 2006 Sylvie, he was awarded the 1914 Star, B.W.M. and V.M. and as you say the last two were returned.
sylvie sillince Posted 21 June , 2006 Author Share Posted 21 June , 2006 Chris Thank you. Of course, if I had been more familier with the script I might have noticed that the two medals returned included the BWM! I had some good times in Three Rivers - I live in Montreal years back! thanks again Sylvie
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 24 June , 2006 Share Posted 24 June , 2006 He was part of the 7th Division in 1914. Stealing a quote from the main site it was: 'One of the greatest fighting formations Britain ever put into the field': Cyril Falls. Brown earned his 1914 Star and it was almost impossible for him not to have qualified for the clasp, as they went to Antwerp when it was already in range of mobile artillery, but he didn't claim for it. As the comment about desertion hasn't been cancelled, I doubt he would be willing to give them his address!
