ijrowley Posted 20 June , 2006 Share Posted 20 June , 2006 Hi Today I have found a book that I purchased for £2 entitled . The Somme 1916 which would appear to be a personal account by E. Norman Gladden who I believe was a member of 7th Northumberland Fusilliers . Has anyone out there read the book and if so any comments please. Tom Morgan Posted 20 June , 2006 Share Posted 20 June , 2006 Simply stunning, is my opinion. An absolute classic. When you have finished it, you'll want to read his second volume - "Ypres 1917" - that's excellent, too. Tom
John(txic) Posted 20 June , 2006 Share Posted 20 June , 2006 .............. and not forgetting the 3rd title, "Across the Piave", which I found in paperback for £1.50. This is a sympathetic and well-written account, so I am sure the first volume will also be an excellent read.
