What period of war?

Can anyone tell from this photograph, roughly what period of the war thier kit relates to, I suspect it is early war c1915, as my Grandad has not got his wound stripe yet on his left sleeve, can anyone have a stab, a long shot I appreciate..thanks

I think you are right those are tired and sad eyes on the chap on the right and those boots are battered.

Mid/1915 to 1916 as they have their Ph gas-helmet haversacks slung.

Get a closer look at those eyes, they ain't sad or tired, the poor ****** is "boss eyed".

Thanks for the replies gents, Mid to Late 1915 sounds about right as I have been told he was gassed , probably in 1916. The chap on the right, my grandad's mate ,apparently had a glass eye , hence the 'dip and dazzle' look. cheers
