StAubyns Posted 18 June , 2006 Share Posted 18 June , 2006 I picked this book up at the library yesterday and I must say that the descriptions of the fighting around High Wood are the most graphic I have ever read. Its a book I am finding difficult to put down. As to its accuracy, I have to trust that the author has done his research. Geoff
Tag Posted 19 June , 2006 Share Posted 19 June , 2006 I've just finished this book and thought it was Excellent! Hanson is a superb writer who intertwines the story with interesting anecdotes. This book flows like a country stream, taking you from the riveting personal stories of three veterans and ending in the the interment of the Unkown Soldier. A bargain at twice the price. RSF Posted 8 July , 2006 Share Posted 8 July , 2006 Nearly finished and what an excellent read it is. He mentions the case of some shellshocked soldiers being unidentified - truly Unknown Soldiers. Has anyone else any info on such cases. i.e. were they eventually identified ? john
