Spud Trevor Posted 14 June , 2006 Share Posted 14 June , 2006 Hello, I'm wondering if anybody could help me ? I've just downloaded a M.I.C (type 1 as per The long, long trail). There are details in the name, rank, corps, etc and an additional note with a died date. However, the medal roll and page details are completely blank. I've read previous threads about home service only, but this chap was killed in October 1918 and is buried in Flanders. Can his medals have been issued without those details ? Grateful for any advice, Regards, Spud

Spud Trevor Posted 27 August , 2006 Author Share Posted 27 August , 2006 Hello All, Having read the recent thread about converting M.I.C's, I've hopefully added one below. Can anybody explain the significance of a blank M.I.C. is it likely to mean his medals were never issued ? The name is Lieutenant Noel Dyson Williams. Thanks for any help, Spud. HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 27 August , 2006 Share Posted 27 August , 2006 He has @ least one other Card as he was MiD,it is listed under N.D.Williams {I searched Williams/South Lancashire/Lieutenant} A Google search also shows the existence of a Book "Noel Dyson Williams; His Life & Letters" by a Rosalind H.Dobbs. The reference @ the bottom of MiC in Comments may be the Medal Roll Page reference
Spud Trevor Posted 28 August , 2006 Author Share Posted 28 August , 2006 Thanks for the pointer. I'll look to download the second M.I.C. I've been lucky enough to pick up the book you mention in the last couple of months. He's an interesting chap from an interesting background. Thanks again. Coldstreamer Posted 28 August , 2006 Share Posted 28 August , 2006 Not all medal cards relate to ww1 medals being issued (which is odd I know) I have seen 3 to the Coldstream Gds awarding LSGC medals in the late 1930's
Chris_Baker Posted 28 August , 2006 Share Posted 28 August , 2006 The card shown above says he was discharged from the ranks to be commissioned. He will have a second MIC as an officer and his medals will have been issued from the officers roll.
