Mark A Posted 9 October , 2003 Share Posted 9 October , 2003 Afternoon everyone, hope you're all well. Does anybody know what regiment Montgomery (as in Montgomery of El Alamein) fought in during the First World War? I take it he had a very distinguished career. Can anyone recommend any particular biography about him? Cheers! Mark

armourersergeant Posted 9 October , 2003 Share Posted 9 October , 2003 If you put monty in the search thingy you will see some threads about him and some relative to his early career which was mainly spent on staff duty after he recovered from a near death wound in 1914. I do know that in the later part of the war he served on the staff of 47th division under general Gorringe. see here and attributed much of what he learnt about staff work to this time. Arm.
