MIDMED Posted 29 May , 2006 Share Posted 29 May , 2006 Hello I have the medals and service record of a veteran Royal Marine Sergeant who had been captured in 1914, being imprisoned in Germany throughout the war and repatriated in 1918/19. His records state he had been promoted several times during his service including two or three war-time entries and by 1918 he had attained the rank of W.O.class 2. R.M.L.I . How did the ranking system work with regard R.M, N.C.O's promotion while a P.O.W (1914-18) ..? Were promotions and long service awards adhered to during 1914-18 in the POW camps or was it done and dusted at home post war.? Thanks Tom......
