mutley Posted 28 May , 2006 Share Posted 28 May , 2006 Does any pal have any information of the 2/2 Londons during the fighting in Hangard Wood on the 24th April 1918. I understand that the Bn suffered heavy casulaties and I am researching a JNCO from the Bn who won the MM there on the day. Many thanks Mutley
Steven Broomfield Posted 28 May , 2006 Share Posted 28 May , 2006 Mutley...the regimental history has quite a bit, plus a good map. Bluntly, the Bn lost 1 officer and 29 o.r. killed and 8 officers and 301 o.r. missing, plus 3 and 127 wounded. I'm happy to photo copy and send you the relevant bits, but not back in the office till Thursday. If no-one else gets in beforehand, PM me your address and I'll get on to it then. MIDMED Posted 30 May , 2006 Share Posted 30 May , 2006 Hello I think the enemy attack at Hangard Wood on the 24th was the German's first use of Tanks ,the birth of the Panzer one might say. Best Tom
