Hi

I have DCM group who went through the ranks to W.O.CL.2 and the war diary states he was the BSM off B.BTY.62ND/BDE RFA i was just wondering how long he was the BSM off that BTY? any info please. The DCM is inscribed as 30627 SJT W CROFTS B.BTY.62ND/BDE.RFA any help would be great .THANKS.

In case you are still looking on this old post I note that Corporal Crofts was a reservist who started the war with 36th Brigade (Bty unknown) .. was wounded in Aug/Sep 1914 .. in hospital in Bristol 3 Sept 1914 and then indeed posted to B Bty 62nd Bde .. so promoted Sgt and BSM only late 1914 or 1915
