Could any of the Lancashire Fusiliers experts please tell me where and what the 11th Battalion the Lancashire Fusiliers were engaged on the 15th July 1916.

Usna Hill, La Boisselle; in support of attack on Ovillers attd to 7th Inf Bde. Attack failed, heavy losses due to MG fire. Phil B

See the recent book 'Tolkien and the Great War' by John Garth -Tolkien was Signals Officer of 11th LFs.

To m13pqb & Mark,

Thank you for your reply's, I am researching the 14/18 soldiers from the Parish, one A. Alletson( Edwin) was killed on the 15th July 1916.
