Paul D Kendall Posted 14 May , 2006 Share Posted 14 May , 2006 Does anyone know anything about a mutiny that took place by Royal Marines training for the Zeebrugge Raid. The 4th Battalion War Diary records that on Friday 15th March 1918 during the first battalion exercise on the Lynch, on this day, 'No.7 Platoon failed to fall in as ordered' (PRO reference: CAB 45/268 / Royal Marines Museum). The entire No.7 Platoon disobeyed orders with the exception of two privates. Various courts of enquiry were conducted, but no cause was established and no ring leaders identified. With the exception of two men, the entire Platoon was sent to the parent units in disgrace. I have checked many of the service records of the men who failed to parade, and they all have clean service records, with no discipline breaches record. It is a mystery that has baffled me for years. If anyone has any more information, I would be interested to know. Kind regards Paul Please contact me at: Paulkendall291@aol.com
