Does anyone have any info on, or can point me to a source of details for Mustapha Convalescent Camp in Alexandria? I believe survivors of the sinking of the Royal Edward were taken there.

thanks

Mate,

To help young Kim here,

I've gone throught the Conv Hosp set up by the aussies and none mention this Hosp by name.

In Alexandria the 1 AGH (Australian Gen Hosp) and the Red Cross took over a number of buildings in 1915 for hosps of all types these are named as;

Deaconess Hosp

European Hosp,

21 GH (British)

17 GH (British)

Ras El Tin Conv hosp

Sorry forget my above I did find one ref to the this,

The Conv Hosp is called The Mustapha Barracks Alexandria, so it appears to be an ex Barracks of the Egyptian Army taken over as a Conv Hosp?

It appears not run by aussies so there is only a limited note to say we (Australia) sent Red Cross supplies to this place.

So mate any map of Alexandria should give you its postion?

Good Luck

S.B
