ceebee Posted 4 May , 2006 Share Posted 4 May , 2006 Some time ago I'm sure there was a post about a book on the mapping of the American Civil War battles. I have searched the Forum without success. Can anyone recall the post and the book? I'm trying to put together some examples of mapping the progress of battles which I can apply to WW 1 examples. Thanks in advance. Dikke Bertha Posted 4 May , 2006 Share Posted 4 May , 2006 Was there any progrees on the original proposal - an equivalent atlas of WWI battles?? I think it would be a great idea especially superimposed over modern maps. There is a Westpoint Atlas to the battles of the Napoleonic Wars which is excellent and that covers 1792 to 1815 all over Europe and Egypt! ceebee Posted 4 May , 2006 Author Share Posted 4 May , 2006 The system works. Phil was right on the spot. I haven't seen any progress on the matter, although there are several members (Howard and Paul Hederer I think) who are involved in mapping exercises. My approach will probably be very simple if I can work out the best software to use. I'll probably work from a trench map or a topographical map and have a series of overlays.
