Dolphin Posted 2 May , 2006 Share Posted 2 May , 2006 Andy Lt A E Boultbee formerly 3rd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment, (photograph below) and AMII Frederick King (61783) were flying in FE 2b A5439 of No 25 Sqn RFC when they were shot down south east of Oppy while on a photographic escort mission. A victory was credited to Ltn Manfred von Richthofen of Jasta 11, who was flying a Halberstadt D.II; it was the 27th of von Richthofen's eventual 80 victories. For an account of the action, see Norman Franks, Hal Giblin and Nigel McCreery's Under the Guns of the Red Baron, ISBN 1 898697 27 2. I hope this is useful. Stebie9173 Posted 2 May , 2006 Share Posted 2 May , 2006 Now I wasn't expecting that! He was apparently a scholar of King's School, Ely. The link contains extra details. I would seek permission from the website owner for use: http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Cambridgeshi...ool1914-18.html and Colne memorial: http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Huntingdonshire/Colne.html and a family website: http://www.boultbee.freeserve.co.uk/bfh/xiii.htm Steve. andy1400 Posted 3 May , 2006 Author Share Posted 3 May , 2006 Thanks for all of the information. I was in Hargrave the other day and thought I would note down the names from the memorial with a view to putting it with the pieces we are doing for Raunds. Thanks again Andy

Dolphin Posted 3 May , 2006 Share Posted 3 May , 2006 Steve Welcome to the Forum. I scanned the photograph from Norman Franks, Hal Giblin and Nigel McCreery's Under the Guns of the Red Baron, published byGrub Street, ISBN 1 898697 27 2. The source isn't indicated. I think that the publishers would be the best people to speak to in this case. Regards Gareth
