Remembered Today:

7437 Private Willie Dickson, 1st Manchester Pals

As I don't have immediate access to the Manchester Pals' Book of Honour or the like, could one of our resident Pals' experts please confirm in which platoon and company Private Dickson of 16th Battalion, served? He was killed on 1st July 1916 and is commemorated on Thiepval. He was the great-uncle of the colleague who will be accompanying me on our school tour this summer. We're still trying to track down a photo of him, possibly in a Salford newspaper.

Any help much appreciated.

Of course the trouble with "E" Company is you've no idea where they ended up when the Coys shrank to four.

Thanks very much for all the info. Of course the problem with these platoon photos is that you can never be sure exactly who's who. I'll have to get my colleague to stand by it and we decide who bears the closest resemblance!
