Hello,

maybe one of you knows anything about this. A collector friend of mine has a photo taken by a german soldier , dated 1917. It shows two Soldiers, both grinning, in what seems to be German gear and german rifles standing in front of a camouflaged dugout situated on the slope of a wooded hill. Caption on the backside says "Zu Besuch bei den Türken neben unserer Stellung, 1917" (Visiting the Turks, next to our position, Frankreich 1917). Actualy these men realy look very ungerman and very turkish. Heavy moustaches, brown teint, and definetly NOT german.

I cant take a scan of the photo right now but I will try, my question for now...anyone knows if any turk detatchments served in France ?? I never heard of this but would love to find out more.

Thanks !
