Chunkeroo Posted 30 April , 2006 Share Posted 30 April , 2006 I am reseraching a 46089 Pte T W Bolter 11th Leicesters whose photo is displayed on our war memorial in the church. I have also been sent another photo of him from his great nephew, of which he is certain it is Will. The problem is although it looks like Will, the cap badge looks different. Also the man looks like an officer. There are two other possibles for the photo because Will had two brothers. Private Fred Bolter Berkshire Yeomanry Captain Reginald Bolter Royal Garrison Artillery I think the man is probably Reginald. Do you think this could be right. Will put second picture as seperate post. Having problems with my browser.

PhilB Posted 30 April , 2006 Share Posted 30 April , 2006 The second man looks like a cavalry trooper. It could be Berkshire Hussars but hard to tell on that photo. Phil B
auchonvillerssomme Posted 30 April , 2006 Share Posted 30 April , 2006 Its a cavalry sword and not an officer but lanyard throws me a bit Mick
Pte1643 Posted 30 April , 2006 Share Posted 30 April , 2006 Second man is RA, I should say he was Reginald. White Lanyard suggests RA also. But then, would a Cpt wear a Bandolier? Possibly taken before his Commission.
Tony Farrell Posted 1 May , 2006 Share Posted 1 May , 2006 I reckon this is a pre-commision picture of Reg on Fred's horse. Probably taken when on leave. The bloke certainly appears to be wearing an RA badge, but the saddle-mounted sword scabbard is suggestive of Yeomanry.
