Rutledge Brothers AVC

Hi Pals,

Any A.V.C. experts out there who can shed some light on two brothers who, according to their MICs, entered the theatre of war on the same day, 17/11/14. They are John se/755 and Fred Rutledge 797 AVC.

John received the 1914 Star, B.W.Medal and V. Medal but was discharged on 10/6/16 and awarded a SWB.

Would this have been unusual? Fred also received the first three medals but was transferred from the AVC to 4th. Reserve Brigade RFA and later to the Labour Corps and obviously saw the war out. However, he was apparently so traumatised by his experiences that he spent the rest of his life in a psychiatric hospital outside Dublin. There is an entry under comments on his MIC but it's impossible to read.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Ken
