neiluwins Posted 26 April , 2006 Share Posted 26 April , 2006 Would a soldier who committed suicide while in the Army in WW1 forfeit his medal entitlement? I have been researching a soldier who committed suicide his 14 Star medal roll reads "forfeits (suicide)" & "No medals issed". Was this common place? I know both suicide, and attempted suicide was a criminal act.
joseph Posted 26 April , 2006 Share Posted 26 April , 2006 Sad to say yes, If it was an Attempted Suicide he could well have gone to prison and forfiet his medals (except the VC). Regards Charles
Coldstreamer Posted 27 April , 2006 Share Posted 27 April , 2006 Hello Morbid I know but, it would have been easy to get killed you would have thought - just stick your head over the top. Probably many more suicides but not recorded as such Ian
