I am tyring to find out a bit more about my grandfather this is what I have at present.

Can anyone help?

Col Blundell formerly commanded the Devonshire Royal Garrison Artillery (T.A.) and retired in 1824 after 24 years' service with the unit. Although his-period of command expired in 1922. he was especially asked by tthe War Office to continue in charge of the brigade, which he did for two years.

In France, during the war, Col: Blundell commanded his battery (now the 157th Heavy Battery. Devonshire Heavy Regt., R.A. during the Battle the Somme. where on one occasion all but one of the guns of the battery were destroyed.

AWARDED O.B.E,

Col. Blundell was invalided home in1917,'but later trained men of the Second Reserve Training Battery, Heavy Artillery, at Winchester, and was afterwards appointed to command No. 3 Fire Command (Devon R.G.A.) at Plymouth. He was awarded the O.B.E.. for his military services.
