On his medals he classed as Driver, Royal Engineers. Could anyone advise me how to go about investigating further. I've got his MIC, that says France 14/09/14 with H Cable Section RE. A look at the National Archives on-line catalogue indicates that there are war diaries for a number of Royal Engineers cable units - but, I'm afraid, not one for an "H Section".
