Aaron Nelson Posted 24 April , 2006 Share Posted 24 April , 2006 Hi all, With respect I would like to remember three of my relatives this Anzac day who left New Zealand to fight on foreign lands, they never came home. Private Robert Edward Davis, 1st Auckland Battalion. Killed on the 26th September 1916 by an artillery shell, During the Battle of Morval, Somme, France. He was never buried. Riflemen Colin McOnie, 3rd New Zealand Rifle Brigade, Killed in action on the 7th June 1917 while advancing over no mans land at Messines. Flight Lieutenant Maurice Leonard Hunt, 227 Bomber squadron. Royal New Zealand Air force. Piloting a Lancaster Bomber he was shot down near the town of Illesheim, Germany on the 14th of March 1945. After parachuting into hostile territory he was picked up by members of the Hitler Youth movement and was severly beaten by these people. He died 3 days later of his wounds on the 18th of March 1945, just weeks prior to the war ending. We will remember them..........we will remember them. LEST WE FORGET.
