Remembered Today:

Turkish Army ID

Recommended Posts

I'm told this was recovered from the body of a Turkish soldier during the armistice at Anzac on 24 May 1915, and that it's a Turkish soldier's ID card.

Bill, could you show it to Kenan and ask him whether he can read it, or knows someone who could?

If anyone else can read it, I'd appreciate hearing from them.

Bryn,

we have someone who can read the Ottoman script and Sahin should be able to tell us if it is an ID or not. It might take a few days as, for some reason or other, we are all rather busy at the moment. However, I promise to try and track this one down.

Cheers

Bill

PS are you getting my e-mails?

Thanks for posting the image and I am really looking forward to knowing what the inscription actually says.
