neiluk Posted 22 April , 2006 Share Posted 22 April , 2006 HI ALL, IAM RESEASRCHING A RELATIVE FOR MY GIRLFRIEND WHO SERVED IN THE GREAT WAR, AND WONDERED IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE WHO COULD HELP?? THE DETAILS THAT WE KNOW ARE AS FOLOWS: NAME: ROBERT COLLINSON RANK: SERGEANT REGIMENT: ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY NUMBER 13535 AWARDS: 1914-15 TRIO BORN. 1874 ON HIS MIC, IT SAYS IN THE TOP CORNER ABOVE HIS NAME "+ D.C.M" BUT THERE IS NO TRACE IN THE LONDON GAZZETTE OF THE AWARD. COULD HE HAVE REALLY WON IT? THERE IS ALSO TWO ORIGINAL PHOTOS OF HIM. ON ONE HE IS WEARING LONG KNEE LENGTH BOOTS, WITH A CANE IN HIS HAND, AND UNDERNEATH IT SAYS "B.S.M COLLINSON" WHAT COULD THIS MEAN. ON THE OTHER PHOTO, HE IS WEARING HIS MEDALS, BUT THERE IS ABOUT 8 OF THEM AND THERE IS ABOUT THREE MEDALS BEFORE THE TRIO. IS THERE ANY WAY OF FINDING OUT WHICH BATTLES HE FOUGHT IN, AND IF HE WON THE M.M OR LS+GC MEDALS? BEST WISHES NEIL
