Guest youngone Posted 20 April , 2006 Share Posted 20 April , 2006 Hi, I recently came into possesion a collection of items belonging to a Pte. A. Anderson of the 8/10 Gordon Highlanders. I have been able to find that he was a held by the Germans as a P.O.W. He did however survive and also received a congratulatory letter from King George which i have in my possesion, however i have no idea what his first name is, or more precisely which battalion of the highlanders he served in. I am trying to find as much as i can about this individual. If anyone has any info on this member or of the Gordons themselves then i would really appreciate it, thanks, youngone. Donny Anderson Posted 20 April , 2006 Share Posted 20 April , 2006 Hi Young One, The 8/10 Th Battalion Gordon Highlanders was an amalgamation of the 8th Service Battalion Gordon Highlanders and the 10th service Battalion Gordon Highlanders, taking place on 11/05/1916. My grandfather William Anderson served with the Gordons but I don't know which battalion. Donny
