Fred Gaspall.

Local memorial man who I have tried to pin down on SDGW & CWGC with no success.

I have a feeling that the surname is a mispelling, there are quite a few so far.

Anyone any ideas I have tried all variations on spelling I can think of.

Bob.

Working on the basis that I can't find a Gaspall amongst the MICs, I agree a mis-spelling seems likely. Entering "F" and "Gas*" into SDGW only gives three names as serving (or formerly served) with the Mancs - all Gaskell and none with your local connection.

Accodring to the Manchester City Battalions Book of Honour (CD version), Gospel was an original member of 8 Platoon, B Company.

He was an employee of T Seymour Mead & Co which was a north west grocery shop chain.
