A nice tribute to two brave men. One received formal recognition for his gallantry from his nation, but both men paid the supreme sacrifice. I often wonder what drove these men. I have the medals and memorial cross to a young Scot who commanded a platoon in the 87th Canadians. Slightly wounded on 7 April, he refused to leave his men. Sure enough two days later at Vimy Ridge he was hit again during the attack. A spinal injury. He died a week later.

It would have been so easy for him to use his 7 April wound as a ticket to Blighty, but this type of man didn't take the easy way out.
