Lt Edward Tomfell Kirsop

Hello

You have been of considerable help to me in the past for which many thanks.

I have recently aquired a 1914-15 trio to Pte 2239 E.T. Kirsop Northumberland Hussars on star and 2nd Lt on War and victory medal.

The MIC free preview information is as follows;

Kirsop,Edward Tomfell

Northumberland Hussars 2239 Pte

Northumberland Fusiliers 235662 Pte

Durham light Infantry. Lieutenant.

Does anyone have any other additional information on this man?

Most gratewful for any assistance.

The 1901 census has the following residing at 2 Windsor Terrace Darlington

William Ed Kirsop age 41 Head Colliery Worker, born Darlington, Durham

Annie " " " " 37 Wife " " Gt Burden, Durham

Edward T " " " " 8 son " " Darlington, Durham

Could latter be your man?

Although the name "Tomfell" is shown on the MIC index, the register entry for your chap's birth has his middle name as "Temple". I would suggest that this is correct and that "Tomfell" is a transcription error.
