How much leave did Navy Seamen get during wartime

My Grandfather got married in Jersey in 1916 early morning while his ship was in Glasgow ? How would he have managed that

Any ideas

Bart,

The rules for leave were complicated, but generally 28 days a year even during wartime but was granted when it could be. This would be taken advantage of when the ship was refitting or in a maintenance period, on long leave personnel could travel where they wanted to.

I have the leave regulations if you want more information, but they are hard going.

Regards Charles

His ship being in Glasgow strngly implies that it was under refit. Which ship was it?
