gerrard Posted 13 April , 2006 Share Posted 13 April , 2006 Can anyone provide me with the best source of information regarding the South Lancashire 2nd Battalion from 1905 to 1919. If possible even where I could source old photographs of this regiment. I would be greatful for any information. Regards Colin
John_Hartley Posted 13 April , 2006 Share Posted 13 April , 2006 Colin First port of call should be the Regimental Museum at Fulwood Barracks, Preston. John
edwin astill Posted 13 April , 2006 Share Posted 13 April , 2006 Yes, try the museum. They sent me a photocopy of some pages of the regiment's history (cost). I am working on the diary of Alexander Johnston, signals officer and later Brig. Major for 7th Inf. Bde. The 2/S.Lancs frequently get mentioned - I am sorry to say usually in a poor light. I am hoping the work will be published. Meanwhile if you have any specific queries I'd be happy to try an help. Edwin Astill
benson Posted 13 April , 2006 Share Posted 13 April , 2006 Colin I have a copy of 'ICH DIEN' the Regimental History 1914-1934, though 1919-1934 is contained in a 7 page Epilogue and the 2nd Batt service 14-19 is condensed to some 53 pages, so you can imagine it dont go into too much detail, but if i can help just ask Yours Aye Dave H.
