Guest Scooter67 Posted 12 April , 2006 Share Posted 12 April , 2006 Just joined the site.. I'm researching my grandparents who both fought in WW1. I have been to Kew and gone though the records for Medal index cards, services records etc. I have the medal index cards for both but not the services records, they looked to have gone up in 1940 with a whole lot more. I'm just trying to get a general picture of where they fought, but all the different army numberings aren't really helping. Basically:- Joseph Peirson 23432 (North Staffs) & 18383 (Yorks and Lancs) Index card says date of entry to France 1-5-15 Roll of Honour puts him with 1/Yorks & Lancs, 1/Gn N.Staff,1/5 N.Staff and then 1/6 N.Staff No dates when these changes were made. Any help anyone can give me? Henry Hardman 11068 (York & Lancs) Index card Date of Entry - Balkans 2.7.15 Enlisted 25.8.14 Discharged 14.6.1917 Roll of Honour with 2/York & Lancs Hope this makes sense. delta Posted 12 April , 2006 Share Posted 12 April , 2006 Hi scooter and welcome to the Forum There are a nuimber of specialists on the 1/5th and1/6th N Staffords who will provide you with lots of details; Yorks and Lancs (Hallumshires) were also a TA unit - there are a number of websites which will give you more info on them. Just try googling for a while. Stephen
