Casey Posted 12 April , 2006 Share Posted 12 April , 2006 Hello, I'm usually in the Northumberland Fusiliers site with help from Graham Stewart, but have found this forum so interesting that I now have more questions. I have two old oil paintings, bought off a flea market in Lancashire about 30+ years ago, and given as a wedding present. They are obviously of somewhere in the Welsh Mountains and signed by L.E.Davies, 13th Welsh Regiment. Still have them hung on the wall, and wouldn't part with them but have wondered for years who he was and if he fought in the Great War? Have always thought they were from the 2nd world war. Have never really bothered to find out as 'Davies' is a very popular name in Wales! Thanks, Patricia.
Bernard_Lewis Posted 12 April , 2006 Share Posted 12 April , 2006 13th Welsh certainly fought in WWI - it was in the 114th Infantry Brigade along with the 10th (1st Rhondda), 14th (Swansea) and 15th (Carmarthen)Welsh Battalions. It was essentially the 2nd Rhondda Battalion. Can't help on the art angle. Bernard
