A Puzzler

I am researching a soldier whose movements have me puzzled.

He began 2 York & Lancs (Service No - 22275)

He then moves to 1/5 West Yorkshire's (Service No - 6327)

He then goes to 6 York & Lancs and gets his original Service Number (22275) back.

He then goes to 10 York & Lancs and is killed.

Could anyone give me approximate dates for his moves and a reason why he went to the West Yorks and then back to the York & Lancs?
