celiatoo Posted 4 April , 2006 Share Posted 4 April , 2006 I have tried to find this out via the long trail but need some help. My great uncle Serjeant oscar John Holmes no 8469 of 2nd Batt East lancs Regiment died on 15/1/1915 in France. However I know he was a career soldier and joined up between 1900-1903. I need to know the date of him joining up but need to know if his records would have been subject to the bomb damage or not. Can someone advise me please as to where to look at kew for his records. thanks
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 5 April , 2006 Share Posted 5 April , 2006 As your great uncle served in ww1, his records will have been with the other ww1 soldiers. This is not a data base of the men's records that survive so follow the Long Long Trail section on researching a soldier. WO 363 films for surnames starting H are not sequential so you'll have to look the number up at Kew. You can also look in WO 364/1723 and WO 364/5310 The online catalogue doen't show him in WO 363 mis-sorts
