Hi Jim

Again no references found in de Ruvigneys Roll,I will let you know if i find any references elsewhere.

You would think with thousands of references contained in de Ruvigneys you would have had at least one hit,It just highlights again the mamouth scale of this conflict.

Medalman,

Was wondering if there is any mention anywhere of Lance Corporal John Bardgett, 15309, 11th Battalion Border Regiment, KIA 1/7/16.

Thanks

Hi Chris

Nothing in de-Ruvigneys,Soldiers killed on the somme by Ernest W.Bell. just confirms his service with the 11th Bn Border Regiment.

Soldiers Died Confirms above and that he was born in carlisle,he enlisted in Appleby,Westmoreland.

CWGC states he is buried in Lonsdale Cemetery Authuile grave ref: I.C.5. No age on death is stated.

I have probably only told you what you already know, but i will keep looking. I do believe even more so in cases where details are vague that these guys deserve our efforts to find out about there services and sacrifices so that we can remember them.

Regards

I couldn't agree with you more. They went through so much and to be reduced to a line or two of text, to me, is not a fitting end to someone who gave their life in such awful circumstances. Still, those who appreciate everything these guys did and endured utimately keep their memory alive, all be it in our own small way.

Thanks for looking and keeping an eye open for future reference. I did have that info already but it's good to hear it confirmed in more than one publication.

Cheers

Chris
